The Nakagin Capsule Tower part 3

The final post from me on the Nakagin Capsule Tower in Tokyo this time it’s from the surrounding area.

I know there is a lot of pressure for the Nakagin Capsule Tower to be pulled down and a new building to be put up and replaced and I do understand that there are market forces involved but it would be a real shame that such a iconic building would be lost to future generations.

The Nakagin Capsule Tower part 1

The Nakagin Capsule Tower in Tokyo was a building that I fell in love with and grabbed my attention from the very first time I ever saw a photo of it and has still has me feeling that way after being lucky enough to stay in there back in May of this year.

I will be posting 3 post to cover the photos I took while there one post from inside of the room I stayed one from the building itself and finally one of around the building.

Architect and designer Kisho Kurokawa was part of the example of Japanese Metabolism, an architectural movement emblematic of Japan’s postwar cultural resurgence. The building needs some serious money spent on it to bring it back to its days of glory back in 1972 as it still exists today but has fallen into disrepair since it was first opened.

The Golden Temple Kyoto

The Golden Temple or Kinkaku-ji, officially named Rokuon-ji, is a beautiful Zen Buddhist temple in the Kita Ward, Kyoto and I was determined to see it this time around as I ran out of time to visit the last time I was in japan and I’m sure I will go and see it again hopefully the next time I’m in Japan as it’s one  seriously beautiful temple,  especially in its setting  with the lake and the Muromachi period garden design.

It was such a pleasure to stroll around the grounds and see the temple through the trees as I wandered around, hopefully the next time I would like see it would be in the autumn .
